Hardwood flooring is such which gives a very elegant and beautiful look. By far it is one of the best types of flooring you can opt for. But hardwood floors give such beautiful look only when the basic thing of maintaining hardwood flooring is done properly. Maintaining hardwood flooring becomes a prime requisite if you have installed it in your home. Not maintaining hardwood flooring can lead your floor to get damaged and shorten its life. Hardwood floor are quite expensive as compared to other floors and thus maintaining hardwood flooring becomes very important for you. Here are some of the important tips which will guide you for maintaining hardwood flooring in a proper manner.

  • Basic caring

For maintaining your hardwood flooring, you must take basic care of it on a regular basis. You can start up with dusting the floor with mop. Make sure while dusting the floor, you clean out the dust, dirt and pet hairs from the floor. If these dirt is there on the floor for more time than it might scratch your wooden flooring. You can also use vacuum clean which can attached with brush and clean your floor surface. This is the basic step to maintain hardwood flooring.

  • Deeper cleaning

You might not notice but oil, grime and dirt built up on the surface of your floor over a period of time. This happens when it is not removed by regular moping. Thus you need to do a deep cleaning and for that you need to have a wood cleaning product which should be diluted according to the instructions on the label. Use a sponge or a rag mop and mix it with the diluted solution. Then let it dry little bit so that wet sponge does not spoil the floor. Then damp mop on the floor but be careful it does not leave standing water on the floor. After that rinse it with clear water if that solution needs it to be done and make sure floor is dry and water is not left on the floor as standing water is not advisable for hardwood flooring. If weather is humid then start the ceiling fan so floor becomes dry quickly. This is the second tip for maintaining hardwood flooring.

  • Removing the marks

Maintaining hardwood flooring is not much simple and easy, you have to put some efforts if you are intending to get the result. It’s not just enough to go through the basic cleaning and deep cleaning. If your floor has any spots or stain then it should be removed as penetrating it for a long time can make the floor to look bad and its finish also decreases. You can remove this spot with the floor wax or .000 steel wool. If the spots are of oil based stains then you should clean it up with soft cloth soaked in the dish wash detergent. After cleaning it with detergent clean it with clean water and your spot will be gone. If there are heel marks on the floor you should use the fine steel wool and rub on the floor.
