‘Go Green’ seems to be the mantra of the day and it is truly heartening to see so many people make conscious efforts to do something for Mother Earth and strive to save the world from an impending ecological disaster. So, it will really be great if you too join in and do your bit for our planet. You will be glad to know that making little changes in your lifestyle will help the environment in a big way. And one of the easiest ways of going green is using eco-friendly household cleaning products to keep your home clean and tidy.

Instead of purchasing commercial household cleaning products, you can make a green cleaning kit yourself. You can use things like vinegar to clean your home. Other things that are easily available and can be used to keep your home clean are lemon juice, salt, borax, baking soda and cornstarch. All these things are excellent cleaning agents and do not have the harmful side effects that the chemical based household cleaning products come with. If there are drain clogs in your bathroom or kitchen you can use two parts white vinegar and one part baking soda to remove it. Also to clean glass items and window panes you can use a mixture consisting of water and vinegar in equal parts. For cleaning stoves and ovens, you can use paste made with little hot water, salt and baking soda. You can also mix a little bit of salt in vinegar to lemon juice to get rid of mildew and molds. If your carpets and rugs are giving off unpleasant odor then you can sprinkle cornstarch or baking soda on the carpets and rugs and the vacuum them.
